Locateurcell.com has access to carrier networks that support the following two methods of locating a cellular handset.

It is important for each subscriber to know that the method chosen for location efforts is dependent upon the availability by the supported carrier as well as the type of handset a subscriber possesses. Of course, The A-GPS method of location is the most accurate and this method is automatically implemented first. However, when it is determined that GPS is not available our network will automatically utilize the Cellular Triangulation method. Either method will produce the desired result especially if an attempt is made to locate the person in possession of the handset that may be in the midst of a medical emergency or any other event that requires immediate location.

Explanation of Location Methods:

Assisted GPS, also known as A-GPS or AGPS, enhances the performance of standard GPS in devices connected to the cellular network. A-GPS improves the location performance of cell phones (and other connected devices) in two ways:

1. By helping obtain a faster "time to first fix" (TTFF). A-GPS acquires and stores information about the location of satellites via the cellular network so the information does not need to be downloaded via satellite.

2. By helping position a phone or mobile device when GPS signals are weak or not available. GPS satellite signals may be impeded by tall buildings, and do not penetrate building interiors well. A-GPS uses proximity to cellular towers to calculate position when GPS signals are not available.

Cellular Triangulation - a technique to pinpoint the location of a mobile phone user. In urban areas, a single user is usually within the range of several cell phone towers. Using triangulation, those towers can pinpoint the user's location to within about 360 feet (120 meters). In rural areas, the user is usually within the range of a single tower. In such cases, the tower can detect the angle of transmission and still pinpoint the location of the user with about 1 mile (1.6km) accuracy.

Note: The above methods of location are provided only to the subscriber of LocateURcell.com that has chosen to OPTIN, thus allowing one or more of their cellular telephone instruments to be located at their sole discretion. The subscriber does have the ability to provide access to their location, if they choose, to a third party; however, LocateURcell.com does not release any location information to anyone without written consent from the subscriber.


How LocateURcell.com Protects You

When you sign up for location based services offered by LocateURcell.com your personal cellular device must be registered in order to locate its position using available cell tower triangulation or GPS. The registration process is easy, takes just a couple of minutes and ensures that only you, the person possessing the cellular device, has the ability to register it as follows:

1. You will be asked to call a specific number from your cellular device.

2. During this brief call you will be asked twice to confirm that you wish LocateURcell.com to secure the location of your phone by you at any time during the subscription period by depressing two unique keys on your cellular device. Not depressing both keys when prompted will cancel the registration process.

3. Finally, your cellular device will receive an automated telephone call asking you once again to confirm your desire to have your device located by you and you must depress a specified key to acknowledge consent.

4. Locateurcell.com will also call your device every 30 days as a reminder that your device is registered and can be located.
